Today is my first Wedding Wednesday!
One Wednesday a month I will be sharing all the details of my wedding planning: what I’ve done that month and what is on my list for completion. This is for anyone curious about how my wedding plans are coming (because I get asked all the time) or for anyone planning a wedding and wanting to see an example of a timeline for getting things done by the month. (And for me to look back at someday and *hopefully* laugh about how stressed I was.)
Since this is my first post and I have been engaged for months now I will start this post off with all of the things I have completed Pre-January.
9-12 months (out and beyond) Done List:
–Picked Date and Venue// Celebration Farm in Iowa City – it is so beautiful!
–Picked wedding party and did proposals// I made ornaments for my bridesmaids and Miguel gave beer bottles with custom labels.
–Booked photographer and had engagement photos taken// You can see our photos here.
-Booked caterer and picked menu// Phat Daddy’s from the Amana Colonies
–Ordered save the dates// Wedding Paper Divas is the best for wedding stationary!
–Registered for gifts//Target and Kohl’s
–Booked DJ// This was easy thanks to some family friends who DJ on the side!
–Threw engagement dinner for bridal party// Highly recommend to get your bridal party together and hang out before the wedding (especially if a lot of them will be meeting for the first time).
–Created wedding website// View it here. It is still a work in progress.
January Done List:
–Bought Wedding Dress// Hope’s Bridal in Atkins – Great experience!
–Booked Officiant// Friend of mine and Miguel’s.
–Hotel Block reserved // Marriott in Coralville.
–Started assembling save the dates// SO glad I am creating address labels and not hand writing.
Rest of January To Do list:
–Finish working on Guest list and collecting addresses
–Schedule meetings with florists
–Book videographer
In addition to the things above, I of course have been pinning and brainstorming ideas about other aspects of the wedding as well as researching vendors, I am just writing about things I have set in stone for these posts. If you would like to see my wedding planning boards, follow me on Pinterest!
If you are planning a wedding yourself, I recommend that you download The Knot wedding planning app. They have a great checklist that they customize to your timeline- I use it often to keep me on track. Check it out!
Happy Wednesday!
See you for more wedding planning in February!
