Wedding Detail: Ceremony

Today it is time for another wedding detail post! I am sharing all about our beautiful ceremony today. Thank you again to Hannah White Photography of capturing our day so beautifully.

We had the most gorgeous weather that was perfect for our outdoor ceremony. And it was so beautiful. I really did not have to decorate much because seriously the venue was perfect enough. That being said I am absolutely IN LOVE with the barrels I rented and the floral arrangements on top are gorgeous. The only other decor I had was Shepard hooks and hanging mason jars.

TIP: Keep the Ceremony Decor Simple, flowers usually do the trick.

I also made this sign for us. I loved all of the custom signs I saw on Pinterest and I was glad I could make one myself.

TIP: Reuse your flowers and decor from your ceremony to save money! We used the hanging mason jars as centerpieces and the barrels went up by the head table and the sign moved to the reception site too.

We kept our ceremony short and simple. I actually found a ceremony outline and vows online and then picked out a reading. We had a friend officiate and he did a great job taking exactly what I wanted and making a great ceremony.

TIP: Don’t wait until the last minute to plan your ceremony. I had a good outline and readings/vows picked out about two months before so I had plenty of time to give it to my officiate so he could prepare and not feel rushed and so he could send me back his final draft.

We had my cousin’s girlfriend, Sylvie hand out programs before the ceremony and I think this was a great idea and worked out well if you are trying to figure out how to do programs in an outdoor ceremony.

TIP: Type up a ceremony outline/timeline and give it to your officiant and whoever is doing the music for your ceremony! We had our DJ do it but it was nice for them to see what songs I wanted played and when.

We excited to a fun song – Marry Me by Bruno Mars, It was a great ending. For the precessional though and while guests were arriving, we played piano and string covers of Pop songs and I loved that option.

Tip: Don’t sign your old last name on your marriage certificate like I did *face palm*

The ceremony, while usually short, is a pretty important part of the day (I mean it is the real reason you are having this whole day) so make sure you are happy with how it is going to go! You should be happy and smiling through it all 🙂
