On Wednesday I shared a post on the baby shower I threw last week. When I started planning the party, I saw these cute diaper cakes on Pinterest and I knew I wanted to have some for the party. I had never made a diaper cake and wasn’t sure how difficult they would be but thought I would look up how to make one and discovered that they were pretty easy! So off to Michael’s I went to start creating what ended up being pretty darn cute diaper cakes.
I thought I would share how easy it was with anyone else out there that might be intimidated by diaper cakes.
I did make mini ones, since they were smaller and easier to transport than one large one, and this way I got to spread them out as decor (I used them as centerpieces) and then the Mom-to-be got to take them home as gifts!
Mini Diaper Cake DIY Tutorial
Supplies:
-A package of Diapers. (I bought a 40 pack of size 1’s) I used 10 per cake.
-Ribbon: I bought a thicker ribbon and a different color skinnier ribbon.
-Rubber Bands: You will need two per cake.
-Scotch tape
-Colored shredded crepe paper.
-Optional: I found the wooden crowns at Michael’s that I painted. They came on sticks as they were for photo booth props. However it is optional to add something on a stick or on something cute to stick on the front).
Step One:
Start with rolling three diapers up and wrapping a rubber band around them.
Then roll the other seven diapers and start forming around the middle three. Wrap with another rubber band.
Step Two:
Cut your thicker ribbon to the width of your cake, set in place with tape.
Cut your thinner ribbon to the width of your cake and set in place with tape.
Step Three:
Top with crepe shreds and any other embellishments you may want!
And that is it. These are so easy to customize and make your own. Choose your own colors for you them and get creative.
Thanks for catching up!
