Happy Monday! It’s time to get back into routine and start posting one pot meals regularly again. If you’re new around here, I am working my way to create 100 one pot meals. (You can see the running list here).
What I love about today’s meal is it’s something different – though we eat a lot of pasta around here, it is usually with chicken or ground beef so it is nice to switch in a new meat. Also, using ham is a very easy addition because it comes precooked and diced so no extra work! And in my opinion – everything is better in a creamy cheese sauce 🙂
Cheesy Ham and Pea Pasta
What you need
1 lb of diced ham (I just used a prepackaged diced ham)
1 Box of Whole Wheat Shells
1/2 package of frozen peas
1 can of chicken broth
1/2 pint of heavy whipping cream
1/2-1 cup of pepper jack cheese, shredded
Plus:
Olive Oil
Dried Minced Onion and Garlic
What to do
In a large skillet, add a drizzle of olive oil, ham and generous amount of onion and garlic and sauté until warm over medium heat.
Add chicken broth and shells and cook about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, add in the peas about 6 minutes in.
When the liquid has all been pretty much absorbed, add in your cream slowly, stirring. Cook additional 2-3 minutes.
Turn heat off and add in the cheese, stir until melted.
That’s it! Another yummy pasta dish that will please everyone.
