We have lived in Cedar Rapids for over three years now and I figured it was about time that I made a list of my Cedar Rapids local favorites – things unique to our area. I wanted a list to point people to if/when I am asked what to do in Cedar Rapids. I kept the list to only things I’ve personally done so I can 100% recommend them. If you live in Cedar Rapids and haven’t tried one of these, add it to your list. And if you are visiting Cedar Rapids, then I would for sure recommend all of these places for you visit!

Things to do

Amana Colonies – not technically Cedar Rapids but the cutest little German town with shops, restaurants and wine!
NewBo Market – this is an indoor market that houses local food stands and shops. It’s super cute to walk around and grab something to eat. They also have lot’s of events here!
Cedar Ridge Winery – again not technically CR but close enough! This is our favorite local winery (We even had our rehearsal dinner here). They do brunch on Sundays and special events throughout the year but they have wine tastings and small plates daily.
Hikes at Palisades Kepler – this state park is pretty close to our house and our favorite place for hikes, scenery and to take family photos.

Local Restaurants

Popoli’s – Italian A great restaurant for a “nice” night out.
El Bajio – Mexican Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Cedar Rapids!
gumption – Breakfast The best breakfast place in my opinion!
Black Sheep Social Club – Unique WE love going here because there menu is so unique and the Moscow Mules are great!
Zeppelins – American I love almost everything on the appetizer menu here.
Fong’s Pizza – Pizza If you want unique this is your place. A pizza place dressed as a Chinese Restaurant. Oh and there’s a tiki bar.

While thinking of things that I wanted to add to this list, I realized there are quite a things in Cedar Rapids that I haven’t done – hopefully I will be adding more to this list soon.
